Online, October 21, 2012 (Newswire.com) - For seven and a half years, Pratima Arora worked for various companies, learning her way around the industry, and then she started her own Event Management Company - Artefacto Events Pvt. Ltd. Since then, she hasn't looked back. Her organisation has grown from strength to strength and she still works relentlessly towards further business development. Pratima was always an entrepreneur at heart, and this is what motivated her to earn her PGDM from IMT-CDL. "I always wanted to do business and so I thought, let me earn a degree from a top MBA college and then I shall become more knowledgeable in terms of executing, planning and controlling all aspects of my business", said Pratima.
She is certainly doing that quite successfully today. "Most of my time is spent on meetings as I'm the person who is responsible for generating business for my company. I also work on new strategies, looking for new ways of generating business opportunities and online marketing for my company." She loves her job and that's not only because she owns the company, but also because it gives her the freedom of expression and decision-making. However, Pratima believes that loving the work is not enough and neither is giving it your all! She believes you have to give more than 100% to create success that's sustainable. As she learnt over time, it hasn't always been easy to do, mostly because of being dependent on people who sometimes don't pull their weight, are either lazy or just not aligned with the organisation's aspirations. Little wonder that she recommends strong people management skills for management students planning to get into their own businesses.
Pratima Arora's search for the best MBA colleges in India brought her to IMT-CDL. She was especially impressed by the growth of the institution in terms of leveraging technology and meeting the needs of learners - like providing a digital library online, student access system online, online exams and assignments. She believes there is no substitute for knowledge and urges students to keep digging and building knowledge. She reiterates the importance of SWOT and a professional's ability to demonstrate the capacity to take responsibility. "Most people", she says, "are scared to look for the right job because they fear loss of earning". Her advice is to continually work towards your own interest and strength areas.
Pratima is an ambitious performer. Her company has been growing continually and in the next few years, she aspires to win the 'Best Woman Entrepreneur' award!
