Online, May 16, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) is proud to announce the results of the Inaugural South Florida Charity Classic, held Friday May 9th at Woodmont Country Club. The association began three years ago partnering with The Florida Veterans Foundation, Inc. All net proceeds from the Charity Golf Tournament go directly to supporting the upcoming Memorial Day weekend "3 Day Homeless Veterans Stand Down" to support and assist local homeless veterans.
At the grand finale, the members of the ACG Board and the Event Committee presented Colonel Colmenares, and the Florida Veterans Foundation team a check in the amount of $50,000!!!
The day started off with a brief ceremony including the Color Guard from US Southern Command, the Pledge of Allegiance, an Opening Prayer by retired Navy Chief Janette Chandler, and comments by Event Co-Chairs Jim Duffy, Gullman and retired Marine Lt. Col. Tony Colmenares. A full day of fun and golf ensued. First place was taken by Medical Interactive Neuro Diagnostics, with a well-played 56. The team from JR List captured second place with a close 58. Connie Francis, the world renowned singer, overseas performer for active duty military and Veterans advocate spoke, Jim Duffy was named an Honorary Marine and John Gullman received his "Pink Mohawk", after raising more than $7,000 by donors for the express purpose of seeing that happen!
"ACG did it," said retired Lt,Col. Colmenares. "This is by far the largest single donation given to the Florida Veterans Foundation for the Homeless Veterans Program," he added. "We are truly grateful and I hope most of you can join us May 23-25, to see firsthand what a difference this will make in the lives of those that have served." "Many say they want to help…but ACG has stepped up and done it!" "May God Bless you all, and I'm already looking forward to next year... How will ACG top this year... I can only imagine!" he concluded.
If you or your organization want to "join the mission", please let us know. Planning for next year's event will begin soon. We are looking for committee members and sponsors. Please contact Jim Duffy ([email protected], 954-331-1176) or John Gullman ([email protected], 954-514-3010)
