Sports Inc. 2000 Dives Into Team Building to Strengthen Bonds and Get More Done

Sports Inc. 2000 has recently bolstered its team building efforts in a move to bring the organization closer together. This has additionally had several side effects that have proven very valuable to the business.

According to Paul, the firm’s director, growth is the goal of almost every business. Working hard to continuously attract more business and expand operations is how the most competitive firms stay ahead. However, growth doesn’t come without challenges. For example, it is difficult to maintain a close knit team as it expands. Sports Inc. 2000 realized the dangers of losing their start-up company culture and decided to do something about it, he says.

In order to maintain the feel of a small team even as they grew, Sports Inc. 2000 started organizing team-building events centered on volunteerism. The most significant of these was the loaves and fishes food drive in which the team delivered groceries in food packs to the homeless.

"We knew something had to be done to keep everyone close,"

PAul, Director

“We were looking for a way to keep everyone feeling like a close team,” explained Paul. “We chose the food drive because it was a great way for us to give back while working together as a team in an out-of-office context.”

The group also participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This internet phenomenon is a fun viral sensation that challenged participants to douse themselves in ice water to raise awareness and money to fight amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a degenerative neurological disease. “This was just plain fun for the team,” said Paul. “It’s a great cause and it gave a couple of our team members a chance to pour water on me and some of the managers.”

Sports Inc. 2000 on the Benefits of Team Building

The Sports Inc. 2000 leadership didn’t just start this team building initiative on a whim. Realizing that loss of productivity could be a risk of team expansion, they started to research different ways to deal with team morale. They quickly discovered that targeted, regular team building activities held a huge number of benefits.

For example, Paul says, happy workers are much more likely to stay with their current firm; however, only 20% of Americans consider themselves satisfied at work. Furthermore, team building can help to develop a sense of trust and can avoid conflict. The absence of these qualities in a workplace are two of the leading reasons cited for resignations. The Sports Inc. 2000 team also discovered that volunteerism helps to promote both individual and team happiness.

“We knew something had to be done to keep everyone close,” said Paul. “What we didn’t expect was how beneficial across the board our team building efforts would be.”
