Increased Pell Grant aide to improve higher education opportunities
The Pell Grant program awards a grant of upto $5,500 for students to pursue their Higher Education.
Online, June 13, 2010 (Newswire.com) - In the recent Health Care Bill signed by President Barrack Obama on 23rd March 2010, the Pell Grants program got a boost of US$36 billion. This will help to improve the educational opportunities for middle and lower income group American students. Mr. David Crew founder of Pell-Grant.org, a leading informational website for Pell Grant, said that many students across the United States miss out on educational opportunities because they do not have enough information about this US Government initiative. The new initiative shows the tremendous confidence that this Government has in the program and how this program will better the lives of millions of middle and low income group American students. With better education, millions of American children will become more competitive and produce a better workforce for the country.
The Pell Grant program is a unique program that enables desiring undergraduate students to avail funding for further education. During the current year the maximum award is $5,500. Under new regulations starting July 2010, the US Government will start a new program called as Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant for students who are not eligible for the Pell Grant but whose parents or Guardian have served the US Armed forces in these countries and died on the battlefield. These and similar information that helps a large group of students will be immediately covered by Pell-grant.org. Mr. David Crew said that every year many students are also taken for a ride by agencies that assure them of granting Pell Grants. They charge a fee for the services offered like filling up the FAFSA form but at the end of the day the students are not granted because of certain qualification criteria. Pell-Grant.org provides information regarding all kinds of scams and how students should avoid these.
Another important change signed by the President will enable students to directly approach the Federal Government for the grant rather than applying through Banks and other lenders. This will lessen the overall time that is required for processing of the grant. Mr. David Crew encouraged students to know more about the program and apply for the grants through their school co-ordinators. Schools play a big role in the effective implementation of the Pell Grants program. Through dedicated co-ordinators, they can help with filing the FAFSA form and inform students how much grant will be paid and when. Mr. David Crew said that schools across the country do a good job in implementing the program but more need to be done. The Pell-Grant.org The website aims to provide all information starting from "How to Apply for the Pell Grant" and covers all details related to filling-up the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
