Indra Nooyi - World's Most Powerful Women in Business

Fortune's 500 ranking list of powerful business women CEOs includes Indra Nooyi who is also an idol for working women. They look up to them and wish to succeed like them.

Fortune announced Indra Nooyi as one of the most powerful Women CEOs of 2012 in the world. Indra Nooyi earned the 2nd spot of Fortune 500's list of top most powerful women in business of 2012. Indra Nooyi is the CEO and chairman PepsiCo. Indra Nooyi leads one of the world's biggest food and beverage companies. Because of the growth of the PepsiCo net's revenue to $66 billion, Indra Nooyi last year returned $5.6 billion to shareholders. PepsiCo. launched mid-calorie soda Pepsi Next in March, containing a mix of artificial and actual sweeteners containing 60% less sugar. Indra Nooyi also reshuffled organization of pinnacle executives, a decision that may set up Indra's successor.

Indra Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994 as the company's chief strategist. Since joining the company, she assisted executives in making several strong decisions. Analyzing dim future in fast food, Indra encouraged the company to shed Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut in 1997. Indra's move proved prescient choices. Company earnings went up, and also did Indra's career path.

She was named President and CEO on October 1, 2006 and assumed the responsibility of Chairman on May 2, 2007. Indra Nooyi has helped the company's international policy for more than a decade and guided PepsiCo's reformation, counting its restaurants into the flourishing YUM.

Prior to joining PepsiCo in 1994, Mrs. Indra Nooyi served as Senior Vice President of Strategy for a Zurich-based industrials company known as Asea Brown Boveri for four years. She was important member of the main management group responsible for not only company's U.S. business but also its global manufacturing businesses. Involved in 1986 to 1990, Indra Nooyi assisted Motorola Company, where she was Director and Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Planning. Prior to Motorola, she worked in Boston Consulting Group for six years. Her customers ranged from textiles and customer goods companies. She started her career in India, where she held product manager post at Johnson & Johnson.

Moreover being a part of the PepsiCo panel of directors, Nooyi serves as an affiliate of the boards of the International Rescue Committee. Nooyi is a part of the Board of Trustees of Eisenhower Fellowships. Indra Nooyi currently works as a Chairman of the U.S. - India Business committee.

Qualification of Indra Nooyi includes a BS from Madras Christian College and Master of Business Administration from Yale University. She is a working women as well as a music lover too. She played lead guitar in her native land Madras in India as well as she was a cricket player in college of homeland. Indra Nooyi still performs on stage at company parties and functions. Indra Nooyi is married and has two daughters.
