Infinite Earth's Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project Delivers Clean Water

Rimba Raya, the world's largest REDD project completes its pilot program to deliver clean water filters and protect the Indonesian forest community from lethal waterborne disease.

Infinite Earth's Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project has successfully completed their pilot program to provide low maintenance, ceramic water filters to households in the Rimba Raya project forest community. These water filters will change the lives of thousands of adults and children currently living in the area.

Infinite Earth's Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project launched its clean water pilot program to 100 test households with resounding success. This clean water project is now rolling out to the entire population of over 2,500 households with completion aimed for the end of the month.

Clean water and sanitation statistics are alarming. Over 2.5 billion people around the world live without basic sanitation. Water borne diseases from poor sanitation claim the lives of 1.5 million people a year, with nearly half of those being children. This project was created to help the people of Rimba Raya's communities be able to live healthier, longer lives.

Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Foundation is using funding to provide ceramic water filters, which are coated with colloidal silver and kills 99.98% of pathogens from unsanitary water. The distribution of silver enhanced ceramic filters will change everything for young and old in Indonesia's ancient forest. Both the community and the environment will see massive improvement.

The clean water program was launched within months of winning the battle against the billion-dollar palm oil industry and completing final project verification. "This initiative proves that the carbon markets can deliver social and environment benefits that have substantial impact on local communities", said Todd Lemons, CEO of Infinite Earth and project developer.

The organization will continue its work not only in helping the people of Rimba Raya but the protection and preservation of the carbon-rich forest and hundreds of at-risk species.

The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project is the world's largest initiative to protect low land peat swamp forests, one of the most highly endangered ecosystems in the world. The Biodiversity Reserve is the largest REDD project to see its emission reductions reduce green house gas emission by more than four million tons in one year.
