Inspired Retirement Plans Include Sail Around the World
Online, July 1, 2010 (Newswire.com) - NORWAY - Alf Pederson has unconventional retirement plans. His first order of business will be as a crewmember of S/Y Jageren, a global circumnavigation project setting sail out of a Norwegian Harbor on July 4, 2010. Destination number one is the North Sea and Scotland with plans to reach the Caribbean Islands by December. Pederson will be in charge of the project's Internet communications.
The journey, which will last three to five years, is a dream come true for the recently retired 56-year-old computer engineer. "The nursing homes are full of people," remarks Alf Pederson wryly, "who sit and regret all the things that they never did." One of his personal goals is to encourage other people to take charge of their lives. "Get a dream and hold on to it, and lock out the nay-sayers. They only whine because they fear/know they can never realize their own dream. Well, you can."
Upon completion of this exciting voyage, Pederson plans to spend most of his retirement years in a warmer climate. "I will most likely end up in Greece, but I will keep my citizenship in Norway," he muses. "A good summer holiday up there with salmon fishing in the midnight sun will be nice. But not more, thank you. I have done my part of the snow shoveling."
Pederson credits Site Build It!, developed by SiteSell.com, for giving him the financial means to retire early. Using the Site Build It! system, he created his own information site (www.databasedesign-resources.com) and what started out as a hobby site is now an educational resource used by numerous universities and colleges around the world.
The site generates substantial passive income due to its high, targeted traffic volume. This constantly growing revenue source, according to Pederson, will help to fund his upcoming voyage and to also cushion his subsequent retirement years.
For the expedition at hand, Alf Pederson and the crew will report progress to the world via its own site, http://www.jageren.com/jageren-in-english.html. The yacht's captain, Gjermund Jamtvei says, "At a certain point in life, goals change, and one wants to explore or test out new sides of oneself. This voyage is much about that. Time to live."
