Interactive App Lets Kids Read Randy Kazandy in a New Way Using iPhone and iPad
Rochester, NY, July 13, 2015 (Newswire.com) - When offered the opportunity to play with a technological gadget, most kids will jump at the chance. Whether they use them to play games or just scroll through pictures, children are undeniably drawn to computers large and small. With this in mind, it makes sense to use technology to get kids interested in reading. The Randy Kazandy, Where Are Your Glasses? interactive app seeks to do exactly this. With three different reading styles, engaging narration, and illustrations that react when they are touched, the app, available for iPhone and iPad, offers readers of all ages a new way to engage with author Rhonda Fischer’s work.
The app’s flexibility allows it to cater to readers of every skill level. Words are spoken and displayed when objects are clicked on, and the speed of narration can be easily controlled: while “Auto Play” reads and turns pages by itself and “Read to Me” narrates page by page, “Read Myself” lets kids select which words they want to hear and when. Whichever option is chosen, each word is highlighted as it is spoken in order to make the story easier for children to follow.
The app is also perfect for the working parent, as it allows the narrator’s voice to be personalized: parents can save recordings of themselves for their children to listen to anytime, even during busy hours or in the car. Kids can even record their own voices as they read through the story.
The Randy Kazandy app won the Tillywig Toy & Media Award in 2012. It is available to purchase for $1.99 through the iTunes app store. Optometrists can order the physical book at a discount by calling Whim Publishing at (585) 287-5802.
