International Air Ambulance Alliance - Fixed Wing (IAAA) Announces Launch and Formal FCO Recognition
Online, August 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The first international alliance among fixed wing air ambulance providers was announced today. The International Air Ambulance Alliance - fixed wing (IAAA) is a non-profit organization that will support specific needs of fixed wing operators around the globe while also creating business transparency for insurers, medical assistance companies and individual payers of air ambulance services.
"Our industry has up until now lacked a self-governing body that works proactively to develop guidelines to increase the client safety and establish a standard of care across the industry," said Adam Williams, President of Aeromedevac and one of three founding members of the IAAA. "The IAAA is a forward looking industry body that looks to anticipate and counter negative trends in the air ambulance industry."
The British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) will share details of IAAA members with British citizens who require air ambulance services.
"Accordingly, British citizens will be able to contact the FCO from foreign locations where they require air ambulances, especially if they are uninsured or require advice," announced Gary Andrews, President of the IAAA. "The FCO will not, however, recommend any one provider, but will share information about which air ambulance providers can provide the required services and which are members of the IAAA."
Membership to the IAAA requires a stringent review of an applying company and board approval. The IAAA's aim, according to Williams, is to minimize the due diligence and risk assessment insurers and medical assistance providers must do for any air ambulance company.
"As global tourism grows, our industry will continue to grow as well," notes Williams. "With the inception of the IAAA, our customers can rest assured they will always receive consistent, professional and advanced care across the globe."
The founding members of the IAAA include Mike Honeycutt, President of JET ICU; David Fox, President of Fox Flight; and Adam Williams, President of Aeromedevac.
According to Andrews, this development is also progressing with other commonwealth countries.
