We go by the motto that if it's good for your body on the inside, then it's also good for you on the outside. I love to go to trade shows and talk about our products face-to-face with people.
Amy Adkins, Founder, Eden's Gift Skincare
When the expensive cream prescribed by her doctor to treat her young son’s eczema caused him to cry out in pain, Amy Adkins was furious. “I went to rub a small amount of the $200 tube of prescription cream on my son and he screamed in pain as if it was burning him,” she said. “I turned the tube over and began reading the ingredients. To my horror, the first ingredient was alcohol.”
Wanting to ease her son’s suffering and inspired by her grandmother’s use of home remedies using plant-based oils for skin care, Ms. Adkins was determined to create a safe, effective, all-natural product to help her son. “I experimented with using food ingredients to heal my son's eczema, and finally created a proven remedy of body wash and moisturizer that works for him,” she said. “When I would hear about other people with similar skin issues, I would give them bottles and, within a few months, Eden's Gift Skincare was born.” All products are made from 100% food grade ingredients. “We go by the motto that if it's good for your body on the inside, then it's also good for you on the outside,” Ms. Adkins added.
As Founder, Ms. Adkins is involved in all aspects of the business, including research and development, marketing and sales. “I love to go to trade shows and talk about our products face-to-face with people,” she said. “I love innovating and continuing to try to stay ahead of the ever-changing face of marketing.” After selling her product to a tough-looking biker who was seeking help for his rough, calloused hands at one of these shows, Ms. Adkins is now the “unofficial skincare company for a large group of Bikers from Michigan” The biker still sends her pictures of his finally smooth hands.
Ms. Adkins’ future plans for her company is to continue to offer her skincare products and expand into other markets. “We just did a small launch of some new eyeshadows, made from 100% food grade ingredients, which we are hoping to expand on in the future,” she said. “We are calling our cosmetics line ‘Eden's Vanity.’"
