What I love about our restaurant is that it is a show when the chefs go to your table serving the meats. Also, all of our vegetables and salads are always fresh.

“I grew up cooking with my grandma,” said Leonice Ludwig, Executive Chef and Owner of Porto Do Sul Brazilian Steakhouse in Overland Park, KS.

Ms. Ludwig was raised in Southern Brazil, where she cooked alongside her grandmother, learning to prepare meals using the recipes and traditions passed down through generations. She eventually moved to Chicago to attend the Hospitality Institute of Chicago, a Le Cordon Blue School. Ms. Ludwig excelled at school, earning a 4.0 GPA and a spot on the President’s List.

At her restaurant, which she owns with her husband Edson, customers enjoy authentic food from Southern Brazil. Fresh produce is always used and meats are prepared in traditional Southern Brazil style Churrasco and served table side by traditional gaucho chefs. “What I love about our restaurant is that it is a show when the chefs go to your table serving the meats,” Ms. Ludwig said. “Also, all of our vegetables and salads are always fresh.”

Before opening the restaurant, Ms. Ludwig worked as a personal chef. Her clients included Marcelo Claure, the CEO of Sprint as well as prominent local business owners. She also generously offered her services at fundraisers for the Governor of Kansas.
