International Association of Women Recognizes Loubna Hassanieh, Ph.D. as a 2019-2020 Influencer

Dr. Loubna Hassanieh, Author, joins networking organization

The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes Dr. Loubna Hassanieh as a 2019-2020 Influencer. She is acknowledged as a leader in literary fiction. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with nearly one million members, 1000+ in person and virtual events, over 100 Local US based Chapters and International Chapters in several cities in China.

“I’m pleased to welcome Loubna into this exceptional group of professional women,” said IPDN President and IAW Spokesperson Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”

A published scientist, Loubna Hassanieh always enjoyed writing, even as a child. In 2013, Dr. Hassanieh combined her passion for writing and science and began working on a book of literary fiction. Where Will My Heart Beat? tells the story of good and evil, and loss and redemption as it follows a man’s return to his past. It was published in November 2018.

“As a scientist, I am aware of all the questions yet to be answered,” Dr. Hassanieh said. “Even the subjects we think we understand are just an interpretation of reality and not reality itself. As our scientific tools and methods become more advanced and precise, we realize that the closer we look at a system, the more erratic its behavior, and the further away from logic we find our interpretations. Today's science relies solely on our sensory experience to gather empirical data to be tested. All the data we have gathered so far says nothing about the world as it is, but rather our understanding of it.”

Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, Dr, Hassanieh earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California. As an Author, Dr. Hassanieh used her skills in literature, storytelling and science. “My scientific mind allows me to read between the lines and understand details,” she said. “My inclination to physics and metaphysics allows me to put realities in perspective, and see things from a different angle.”

Finding the time and solitude to write can sometimes be difficult but Dr. Hassanieh is committed to finding a balance between her life as a scientist, wife, mother and writer. “I have to be sitting in silence and reflect for at least an hour before I can channel my thoughts,” she admits. “I am moved to tears when I reread different paragraphs of my own work. I stayed genuine to my thoughts and feelings, to my own perception of things. My open mind guided me through the design of the events. Equally rewarding is the feedback I have received from my editor and readers, and to know how many people I touched and inspired.”

As she works to market her book both nationally and internationally, Dr. Hassanieh is excited for the future. “I would like to see Where Will My Heart Beat?  made into a movie,” she said. “And most importantly, I hope to continue to inspire people to read as I provoke their thoughts.”
