International Association of Women Recognizes Marina Aris as a 2019-2020 Influencer
Marina Aris, Founder/Publishing Strategist, Brooklyn Writers Project, joins networking organization
CHICAGO, January 7, 2020 (Newswire.com) - The International Association of Women (IAW) recognizes Marina Aris as a 2019-2020 Influencer. She is acknowledged as a leader in entrepreneurship. The International Association of Women (IAW) is a global in-person and online networking platform with more than 100 local chapters, International Chapters and 1000+ in person and virtual events.
Marina Aris has always loved books and was finally able to realize her life-long dream of working in the publishing industry. In April 2016, she founded the Brooklyn Writers Project, which began as a weekly writing group via the Meetup.com platform.
"Eight months after I founded the Brooklyn Writers Project writing group, I hosted Indie Author Day in Brooklyn, launched the Brooklyn Writers Press, and in the summer of 2018, released the first season of Life Lines the Books Podcast."
As a Publishing Strategist, Ms. Aris partners with her clients to make the production, publication, marketing and distribution of their books easier to navigate. This has led her to develop an author's speaker platform that she is working on rolling out in 2020. "I named my company the Brooklyn Writers Project, but 'the project' is now several projects," she said. "My key responsibilities include client relationship management, production quality check and continuing to roll out the rest of the projects, i.e. podcasts, workshops and presentations."
"Technology and industry changes over the last decade have made it easier for people like me, who are passionate about books, to start a publishing company," Ms. Aris said.
Communication, both with her clients and the contractors she hires, is an important skill she uses, as are organization and the ability to listen, learn and process the latest publishing trends. All of this ensures her clients' books meet their visions and the industry's professional standards.
Ms. Aris said the biggest challenge in her career is that "I've never done this before." She has a degree in Business Management and understands how a business is run, but as the company's Founder, much rests on her shoulders. "I've reached a point after three years where I need to build a team and begin delegating so I can continue to grow," she admits. She relishes the relationships she fosters with clients and contractors, but holding the final product in her hands is the most rewarding aspect of her career.
"Books are and have always been my passion," she said. "I feel very fortunate to have finally figured out how to spend my days doing what I love. And, mostly, to produce books that meet industry standards."
As to her future, Ms. Aris is thrilled to be building a legacy. "My 7-year old said she wants to be a publisher someday and I love that children can say that now," she added. "All of the authors I work with have a personal and creative mission and I'm proud to be part of that. A viable business is one way I can continue to honor their work and help shepherd good books and good writing out into the world."
Ms. Aris recently attended the Ultimate Wealth Camp in Las Vegas, where she participated in a panel about entrepreneurship.
