International Day of Non-Violence at Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan
The United Nations - UN has marked 2 October, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, leader of the Indian independence movement and pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence as the International Day of Non-violence.
Online, October 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Who else but the Mahatma could have said "Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man."
Shridhar University Pilani celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with a music program of patriotic songs and bhajans. Prof Bir Singh welcomed the audience and the proceedings were anchored by Geoinformatics Faculty Shri Lokesh Tripathi. As the sweet melody of Mahatma Gandhi's favourite bhajan "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram" filled the hall, a nostalgic remembrance of the Father of the Nation gripped the audience.
Students who sang included Rajvir Singh, Rekha Maru, Sapna Maru, Satish, Anurag, Lokesh Tak and Renu Sharma. Faculty Shri Lokesh Tripathi and Rahul Milton surprised the audience with their singing prowess. Registrar Prof Nesamoorthy, Mr Kamal Vyas who heads the polytechnic, Miss Kitty Mukherjee and other faculty members also attended the program.
Prof BR Natarajan Pro Vice Chancellor of Shridhar University addressed the gathering and reiterated that the Way to Transform can happen by taking inspiration from the quote of Gandhiji "Be the Change You wish to see in the world".
