Internet Service Provider Omnicity Announces Jeff King as New CEO
Online, January 9, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Omnicity, a Broadband Networks Company, announces Jeff King as the company's new CEO. As of Dec. 5, 2012, Broadband Networks became the owner of the Rushville-based wireless broadband Internet service provider Omnicity, Incorporated.
King is a principal at Broadband Networks and has been a cable industry leader for more than 40 years. He has run operations from small new builds to major metropolitan strategically-difficult rebuilds and upgrades.
He served as a corporate executive vice president for Time Warner Cable and president of Road Runner High Speed Online service, delivering high-speed data to more than 4.5 million customers.
King has had nationwide responsibility for the entire Road Runner operation, including engineering, delivery network and data centers. He also maintained the ongoing development of state-of-the-art voice/video and data technology, including the first voice over IP (VOIP) deployments on cable TV, as well as the first cable IPTV trial and deployment.
"Jeff is not only an icon within the telecommunication industry, but he has a history as a worldwide leader in new technology development and deployment. Having Jeff on board with this endeavor is testimony to the cutting edge of bridging the digital divide in this country," said Broadband Networks Principal Buz Nesbit, also a cable industry veteran.
Omnicity, Incorporated filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Sept. 29, 2011, with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Indiana. A reorganization plan was approved, and ownership of the company was transferred to Broadband Networks. The new owners have more than 100 years of collective experience in companies providing high-tech and Internet services.
The new Omnicity, a Broadband Networks Company, provides always-on, reliable, wireless high-speed Internet service to 30 counties in rural Indiana and nine counties in rural Ohio. It is a new beginning for Internet services outside major cities, building strength in rural communities.

Omnicity has already begun an aggressive expansion to serve more customers as fast as possible, adding to their existing base of more than 5,000 Internet and medical care subscribers in Indiana and Ohio.
In addition to fast and reliable high-speed Internet access, Omnicity also provides residential areas with access to medical alert systems, such as the LifeLine Personal Response System. Omnicity's business services include advanced communications for rural schools, hospitals and organizations.
