MedicAlert, the global charity that provides medical identification jewellery for people with hidden medical conditions and allergies, launched the fantastic new Early Start Programme this week. The programme allows children's membership fees to be supported until their 10th birthday, even providing their first medical identification jewellery, engraved and medical checked totally free of charge.

Mark Rawden, CEO of MedicAlert UK said, "Launching the Early Start Programme allows us to help during the vital first years from diagnosis, taking financial pressure away from the families during this time and providing the reassurance and security they need."

The MedicAlert Early Start Programme gives crucial protection to children who have a medical condition or allergy that needs to be identified in a medical emergency, to avoid misdiagnosis and ensure fast and correct treatment. The programme offers protection on two levels. The first ensures the child's medical information is stored in MedicAlert's secure database which can be accessed 24/7 by any healthcare professional treating the child in an emergency. The second is the free wrist worn item of medical I.D. jewellery which is individually engraved with the child's vital medical details. The MedicAlert jewellery will alert healthcare professionals to the child's condition or allergies and further information can be accessed from their record if required.

The programme will be supported by funds the charity receives and places on the scheme will be limited in line with available funding. Currently the programme has 100 spaces available, so for more information and to apply please visit the website at www.medicalert.org.uk/earlystart.
