'Invisible Circus: No Dress Rehearsal' Film Premiere
Online, January 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - This is a must-see for anyone with an interest in the changing city landscape, theatre in derelict buildings, and an inspiring window into a world outside the rat race.
This once-only Premiere night also features Q&A, Hollywood-themed Invisible Circus walkabout, live hip hop from the Triangulators DJ Jules Jive-By (Zen Hussies) and Circus DJs. Dress code: 'Red Carpet'.
Naomi's fast-moving film takes you from the Bristol Audi garage squat in 2006, through evictions, corporate collaborations and finally to creating CarnyVille- a circus spectacular for thousands of people at Bridewell Police Station in the heart of Broadmead. Against a backdrop of city development and its slide into recession, this confident debut reveals a community of unpaid artists devoted to creating beauty and silliness out of blood, sweat and tears.
Naomi says- "It started when the Invisibles were squatting, taking donations on the door. 2 years later they were licensed managers of one of Bristol's biggest venues, with audiences of 1,000 per night.
I chose the DIY approach to keep creative control and show it where I liked - a huge learning experience!
The film shows what happens to a grassroots project as it gets successful. For me it goes to the heart of what Bristol's creative scene is about."
Doors at 7pm for walkabout performance and video installations
8pm screening.
Film runtime: 1h 38min
Followed by 15min Q&A and Bristol band & DJ's TBC
