Is America Obsessed With Spies? Why USA Networks Newest Series Covert Affairs Is Taking Off
American have always loved spies. From Mission Impossible, to the Bourne Series, Charlies Angels, even Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Now USA is trying another spy show with a bit of twist from the Bourne Series director Doug Liman.
Online, August 11, 2010 (Newswire.com) - USA Network has a recipe that has kept America watching for the past few years. Of course they didn't break their lucky streak with their newest series Covert Affairs. A "must-watch" series created by the director of the Bourne series,
Covert Affairs makes capital use of tricks Doug Liman used in filming The Bourne Identity, et al. High speed car chases, agents going rogue, field operatives cut off from contacts, missions in danger of being compromised. It all adds up to intrigue and intensity.
Who's to say but Liman didn't get inspiration for his sexy, smart, spunky, female spy from Catherine
Zeta-Jones' performance opposite of Sean Connery in the 1999 box office hit Entrapment. Limon's
twist on the female spy role is to create a lot of empathy for Perabo's character by emphasizing her
relative youth and inexperience. Viewer's are also drawn to Annie's character because, although she
travels in an international world of espionage, intrigue, and danger, she lives in the real world. Will Covert Affairs be the next big spy series? We'll have to wait and see if Annie and her gang will keep America wanting more.
