Is Kallis Fit for Short Format Cricket?
Jacques Kallis made his Test introduction at the period of 20.
Online, March 17, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Jacques Kallis, the South African all-rounder, is one of the legends in the world cricket who never thinks about his personal best and breaking records but plays only for his country's pride.
Kallis announced his retirement in test cricket during the series against India at South Africa. It has shocked the South Africans as Kallis is one of the best all-rounders and is still capable of showing a match winning stand for his team.
Also, in his last test match, after receiving a standing ovation from the crowd and a guard of honour from the Indian players, he scored a match winning ton and helped South Africa to mark a victory and get the test trophy.
This victory became the perfect send-off for the legend. His ton made everyone to know his ability of batting and to think about his retirement in the test cricket which is not a needful one at this time. This is because; his current form is not so bad to quit from the game and his batting is necessary for the shorter format games like ODIs and T20s.
His first match was against England at Durban in December 1995 and he could only score solitary run in his only innings in the game. But Kallis ended his Test career with a century in his final innings against India at the same Durban in December 2013.
Even though there were some criticisms about Kallis' career to quit from all format games, his ton which was made in the last test match shattered the mouth of the commenters.
His test ton has proved that Kallis can stay at the crease for a long time and bat well even at this age. Also, Kallis confirmed that he will continue his career in the short format games and it's sure he will play for the pride of his country as long as he can.
