Isla De Cafe To Serve Full Puerto-Rican Inspired Menu At Time Out Chicago's Food Truck Social
Online, August 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Isla de Cafe will participate for the first time at Time Out Chicago's Food Truck Social on August 27, noon-10 p.m. at 700 N. Ashland, which features exclusive dishes from top Chicago chefs and favorite food trucks, in addition to live music. Isla de Cafe, a stationary food truck located in Humboldt Park, will serve its full 35-plus menu item, which features Puerto Rican-infused hot, iced and blended drinks, as well as sandwiches and pastries.
"We are thrilled and honored to be one of the newcomers at this event!" says Cristina Ayala, owner and founder of Isla de Cafe. "We will be serving our full menu alongside our other friends in the exploding business of Chicago food trucks. I look forward to walking around the Social and tasting what is bound to be some of the best food you can find on our sidewalks. Most of all, I can't wait for new customers to taste something they've never tried before, like our Rice n' Beans frappe and Malloraca sandwich!"
With a Puerto Rican theme and 35-plus menu items, Isla de Cafe serves many Puerto Rican-infused foods and beverages, a favored selection for Humboldt Park residents. A few of the cafe's most popular menu items include: Rice n' Beans Frappe (Puerto Rican java espresso ice blend infused with rice, milk and cinnamon); Cocomokazo (coconut chocolate blended coffee); batidas (tropical fruit blended ice drinks) in papaya, mango and guineo flavors; and a malloraca sandwich (ham and cheese on sweet bread); in addition to many more.
Isla de Cafe will be relocated only on Saturday, August 27 (all day) due to the Food Truck Social. The cafe's regular business hours are daily, year round, from 7 a.m.- 9 p.m., and it is located near the intersection of North Ave. and Kedzie.
