Jack Nourafshan, President of Reliable Properties in Los Angeles, California, had the opportunity to be part of the 40th-anniversary event of the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. The historic event was to honor the late President Anwar Sadat of Egypt’s involvement in the peace treaty. The Egyptian President Adbel Fattah el-Sisi was included in the anniversary event.

The Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty was brought into play following ongoing tensions between the two countries in 1977. President Anwar Sadat would sign the treaty alongside Israel’s prime minister, Menachem Begin, and had President Jimmy Carter present as a witness. As part of the treaty, Egypt became the first Arab country that formally recognizes Israel, sparking a greater sense of understanding in the years following. In 1981, President Sadat was assassinated by armed militants for his involvement in spearheading the peace treaty.

As part of the 40th anniversary, 30 U.S. delegates were invited to join in honoring late President Sadat for his profound contribution to establishing peace among the once conflicting countries. In addition to Jack Nourafshan, the U.S. delegates comprised of numerous accomplished business professionals that wanted to share in the appreciation of the work that President Sadat had that contributes to continued peace today. Their involvement in the event was also supported by the U.S. Congress as well.

It was also announced that the United States will be hosting President Sadat’s wife and children at the White House in the future. During the White House event, Congress will be presenting President Sadat’s family with the Anwar Sadat Congressional Gold Medal in honor of his commitment to promoting peace. The medal is considered the highest award that an individual can receive from the United States and recognizes exceptional leaders that have shown outstanding acts of service with the best interest of the United States in mind. As part of the honor, Jack Nourafshan and the other U.S. delegates will be present when President Sadat’s family is honored at the White House.
