With secure storage centers located in Jacksonville, Daytona Beach, Port St. Lucie and Melbourne, PODS is one local service company familiar with making house calls.

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) -- With severe weather patterns on the horizon this season, it is expected Mother Nature's wrath will cause uncontrollable damage to roofs saturated by the weight of water collected in downpours.

With homes exposed to the elements homeowners may have the need to quickly remove belongings to avoid further damage. PODS moving and storage containers, which can be dropped off in a driveway or alternate location free of debris, increase chances of salvaging property by quickly transporting to a secure storage center nearby.

In preparation for the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season, Bob Eales, partner of four PODS franchises in Jacksonville, Melbourne, Port St. Lucie and Daytona Beach, said additional PODS containers have been secured to meet demand, both for storm preparation and to help homeowners and businesses that may need renovation after storms have passed.

"PODS storage containers are portable and easy to maneuver, giving us the ability to provide immediate service when disasters happen," Eales said. "Our drivers are trained in working with emergency personnel, authorities and damaged areas and can be a large part of recovery efforts on the ground during disaster-related events.

Geographically, Eales, who opened his first franchise in 1991, says his service area covers the East Coast of Florida from Georgia and south to Palm Beach County.

The NOAA's Climate Prediction Center has predicted the Atlantic Basin source 14 to 23 named storms with winds of 39 mph and above with 8 to 14 of these developing into hurricanes with top winds up to 74 mph or higher. Three to seven of these could become major Category 3 or above hurricanes with winds of at least 111 mph, potentially making this year one of the most intense hurricane seasons since 2005.
