Jaime Partners Manages Build-Out of Duty Free City's Flagship San Diego Location
The 14,000 square-foot retail space in San Ysidro kicks off the first phase of approximately 25 locations set to redefine the border shopping experience
Online, April 27, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Jaime Partners, the San Diego-based leading provider for program, project and construction management services is announcing its latest retail project scheduled to open this summer 2014. Duty Free City will launch the 14,000 square-foot San Ysidro, Calif. location as its first in a plan of approximately 25 new retail openings along US/Mexico and US/Canada borders, giving consumers access to their favorite brands through a luxurious, service-focused and interactive shopping experience.
Jaime Partners will be serving as the Owners Representative and Construction Manager as Advisors, working in tandem with Miami-based Fine Sources Design. The project broke ground in March 2014 and is set to open in late July 2014. Jaime Partners will provide cost estimating services, along with constructability reviews, value engineering and serving as the owner's West Coast representatives. Duty Free City, with corporate offices in Miami, Fla., is set to open an estimated 25 locations in the U.S. across high-density border crossings with Mexico and Canada. The San Ysidro opening is particularly timely with the much-anticipated US-Mexico border expansion project set to be complete in 2016.
"This project is going to attract a lot of traffic," says Alfredo Jaime, partner and co-founder of Jaime Partners. "Duty Free City is working hard to attract the attention of the millions of people that cross into Mexico from this crossing every year. As the busiest land border crossing in the US, San Ysidro is a great kickoff to their nationwide expansion and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it."
Duty Free City will give shoppers an opportunity to make purchases closer to the border instead of traveling the 20-30 miles into San Diego. Shopping duty-free means the goods will not be taxed in the country they are purchased in. For more information on Duty Free City's merchandise mix, please visit www.duty-free-city.com.
In addition to luxury retail, the store will offer a premier customer service experience which includes hair and nail services, a vino lounge, cigar lounge and City Cafй serving sandwiches and coffee. Personal educated shoppers will be on-hand to help serve as in-house experts for consumers. Duty Free City will also have an area for children's activities and a tasting table for wine with selections from over 350 wineries.
