Online, October 17, 2012 (Newswire.com) - P. M. Peter prides himself on his diverse educational background. He is a Keralite who belongs to the city of Lucknow and did his schooling from the St. Francis College, Lucknow. He subsequently pursued a degree in Bachelor of Computer Application from University of Lucknow. His decision to pursue a PGDM comes from his interest in Human Resource management, which he developed during his 18 months of work experience with a BPO. Amid other responsibilities, he also handled team conflicts and issues there.
Jaipuria Lucknow was never on Peter's list of management colleges to consider. However, he had just finished 18 months away from home in a job in Delhi and his parents were keen to have him stay. He decided to join Jaipuria to be able to live in Lucknow, but his opinion about the college has changed a lot since then. He feels that Jaipuria is one of the best management institutes in the country today, perhaps right after IIM. "In the last one year I have learned a lot beyond books! I have done live projects and workshops, I have attended a workshop of HR in Vivanta, I have learned about sponsorships, and got lots of experience and in-depth understanding of business."
Peter describes himself as a shy guy before he joined Jaipuria, but even that has changed now. As he says, "I was a very shy person and was never into extracurricular activities. However, at Jaipuria I got an opportunity to take part in a lot of things. During our Freshers' programme, I won the first prize in a team for the Ad mad Competition. I have been the anchor for almost all the events in our institute. I'm a part of the Class Representative Committee, the HR Club and also the Student Affairs Committee at the institute."
Peter opted for an internship in recruitment with Sahara India Life Insurance Company Limited; since he believes the primary role of an HR professional is recruitment and selection. During his internship, he also had the opportunity to conduct job evaluations, and design job descriptions and job specifications. He shares that his internship not only helped him hone his skills in human resource but also gave him deep insights into the insurance sector. "I was fortunate enough to work with Sahara India Life Insurance Company Limited, an SBU of Sahara India Pariwar. Sahara is a conglomerate with a diversified profile and is also considered to be one of the best employers in the nation."
An Akon and cricket fan, Peter aspires to grow in the field of HR in the coming years. He believes Jaipuria has changed his life and positively impacted his career. He attributes a lot of these changes in him to his faculty at Jaipuria, who are available to him 24×7 and support him in every way possible. "Jaipuria", he shares, "provides students with overall development rather than academic supremacy alone!"
