James Maslow to Be Honored With Awareness Spotlight Award at the 2017 Awareness Film Festival
Los Angeles, CA, October 6, 2017 (Newswire.com) - The Awareness Film Festival is proud to announce that they will be presenting actor-musician James Maslow with the Awareness Spotlight Award at their Honoree Dinner on October 14, 2017.
The former Big Time Rush star is to be honored at the special night at Allied World Gallery for his outstanding work in shining a light on the tragic social issue of sex-trafficking through his music and his tireless charity work with the organisation, Mission Save Her. His latest music video for his song, “Cry” demonstrates his dedication to the cause by paying tribute to the victims of sex-trafficking and their hardships and courage.
“James is a powerful voice in helping raise awareness to the human trafficking epidemic around the world, including here in the United States”, says Awareness Film Festival director, Skye Kelly. “Bringing awareness to his fans can help potential potential victims and families protect themselves. With his desire to use his fame for a good cause and his passion for helping others, James is a great fit for our 2017 award”.
James helped to found Mission Save Her with Reggie Benjamin and Eric Benet, when he became aware of the relevance and widespread nature of the issue of sex-trafficking. He aspired to not only help create the organisation, but to also use his music as a platform to make people aware of how important the issue is and ultimately help to combat it.
“I think what hit home the hardest is that it is a gigantic issue right here in Los Angeles and in San Diego where I am from”, explained James. “How many girls are taken from their homes in the city I live in and the town I grew up in, it scared me that people don’t actually realise this isn’t actually just a problem in third world countries. It is happening right here where we live”.
The 8th Awareness Film Festival will run from October 5-15, 2017 at L.A. Live Regal Theatres. For information, please see the official website: https://www.awarenessfestival.org/
