January Editors' Lounge Fully Charged With Plethora Of Plug-Ins

Product demonstrations from some of the best digital toolmakers in the business were showcased. Lucky attendees won full copies of plug-in software.

Burbank based AlphaDogs Post Production Editors' Lounge packed a full-house during their January event, showcasing a wide range of plug-ins from some of the best digital toolmakers in the business. Post-production professionals from Los Angeles and surrounding areas were in attendance with product demonstrations being given simultaneously throughout the night. Four lucky attendees won full copies of plug-in software, along with other fun prizes being awarded at the end of evening.

Long time Editors' Lounge partner GenArts returned to the lounge to give an overview of the newly released powerful Sapphire cross platform plug-in version 6 on Avid Media Composer. Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager Todd Prives, demonstrated the new preset browser that gives users access to over 1,000 pre-built looks that are available on all supported platforms (FCP, Avid, Autodesk Systems, Nuke/OFX and After Effects). "Sapphire version 6 allows users to preview their footage with a wide variety of pre-built looks as well as save their own presets" said Prives. Looks created using Sapphire have been nominated or won Academy Awards®

Eyeon Fusion Director of Sales Jeff Krebs, presented the renowned highly interactive eyeon Fusion 6.3.1 to a packed crowd. Fusion® is a full-featured, node-based compositing system with advanced tools designed to take editing platforms to the next level of visual effects. Krebs explains, "Finishing editors require more advanced effects than NLE or layer-based compositing software allows. Fusion's live node toolset provides limitless creativity in a cinematic visual effects environment." Highlights demonstrated by Krebs throughout the evening included: live animation creation, seamless 2D to real 3D, live audio driven particles, and 3D text with real-world camera tools.

RE:Vision Effects' Anthony Magliocco VP of Business Development and Lori Freitag Manager of Content and Training, unveiled the benefits of three of their most popular plug-ins. First on the list was the high-quality re-timer Twixtor™, that intelligently adjusts the speed of your image sequences and performs exceptional frame rate conversions. Next up was DE:Noise, an intelligent noise and artifact reducer especially suited for cleaning up problem footage with excessive noise and grain. Finally, the demo of Reel Smart Motion Blur allowed the audience to see how more natural-looking motion blur could be added to action sequences. Magliocco commented, "Each time we demonstrate our tools the editors and artists provide new insights about our products as to how users might envision using our plug-ins. We are pleased to know that we provide an extension to the creative imagination. The Editors' Lounge is a must attend event for our community."

Product specialist with Imagineer Systems, Mary Poplin returned to the lounge to exhibit the new features of mocha Pro. Mocha Pro is Imagineer Systems' stand-alone tracking and rotoscoping desktop application designed to compliment any editing, compositing and finishing environment. A unique planar tracker and streamlined interface allows artists to easily track shots where traditional point trackers fall short. Mary had this to say about the Editor's Lounge, "AlphaDogs is not only a friendly, welcoming environment for Imagineer, they also have the experience to discern valuable, useful various software packages for their audience. Sean Williams of Alpha Dogs immediately saw how mocha Pro could solve a paint issue on a project, and was keen to learn how quickly he could get a clean removal out of mocha Pro. I was pleased at how well received mocha Pro was with the audience and I hope to come back soon."

The next Editors' Lounge will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012. To learn more please visit http://www.editorslounge.com
