Jay Sean To Receive ROGERS FILMI Festival's Inaugural Music Video Award
Online, October 2, 2009 (Newswire.com) - British-Asian R&B superstar Jay Sean and Richard Pengelley, director of Jay Sean's "Down" music video, will be honoured at The 10th Annual ROGERS FILMI South Asian Film Festival (FSAFF) as part of the festival's 2nd annual Music Video Night, October 2nd, 2009 at the National Film Board in Toronto.
Jay Sean, whose new single and music video "Down" features Grammy-winning rapper Lil' Wayne, is currently at #2 on the Billboard Top 100 charts with platinum digital sales past the one million mark. The recipient of several UK and European awards, Jay Sean's Music Video Award is his first North American award since signing with multi-platinum US record label Cash Money Records, founded in 1991 by Bryan "Birdman" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The 2nd annual music video night at the ROGERS FILMI South Asian Film Festival is programmed by well known Canadian music personality Raoul Juneja (a.k.a. Deejay Ra). The festival is currently the longest running South Asian film festival in North America, and the first to introduce a music video segment, to celebrate South Asian artists from across Canada and around the world. Their debut music video night in 2008 screened Bollywood themed music videos featuring rap legend Snoop Dogg and acclaimed actress Natalie Portman among many others.
The vision of the ROGERS FILMI South Asian Film Festival is to promote, discover, introduce and celebrate cinematic endeavours by talented South Asian filmmakers, actors and musicians, and to highlight works with South Asian themes that can be brought to a mainstream audience.
