JCRC Announces its Annual Meeting with Focus on the Cincinnati-Israel Bridge

Top Programs Established and Launched with Successful Results

The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati (JCRC) announces its 2011 Annual Meeting with ground breaking new Israeli partnerships, which will take place on Tuesday June 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mayerson Jewish Community Center, 8485 Ridge Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236. Chris Hassall (Procter and Gamble) and Ellen van der Horst (Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber) will be speakers, and Jerry Kathman (LPK), Mark Levitt, M.D. (Cincinnati Children's Hospital) and Robert Coy (CincyTech) will present on a panel at the meeting.

The bridge between Cincinnati and Israel was jump-started this past November with the Israel Business Development Mission sponsored by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the Jewish Federation and the JCRC. Thirty top business leaders, venture capitalists and investors from fortune 500 companies within the Cincinnati area participated in this targeted trip to Israel.

"Our trade mission was an incredible opportunity to introduce Israel to some of Cincinnati's most influential investment and business leaders," said Steve Shifman, JCRC Vice President. "These first-time visitors gained personal knowledge of Israel beyond the conflict. The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber board members saw Israel as a thriving center for innovation and entrepreneurship as well as a warm, vibrant, and inviting place to visit and to do business. We anticipate many opportunities for cooperation and development between Cincinnati USA and Israel emerging from this trip."

The collaboration and partnership between Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) and Israeli hospitals has also broke new ground. Through its Israel Exchange Program (IEP), CCHMC is leveraging Israel's entrepreneurship, innovation and technology, while sharing with Israel its expertise in delivering top level complex pediatric care and breakthrough research advancements. The overarching goal for the program is to improve child health around the world and transform delivery of care through fully integrated, globally recognized research, education and innovation. To date, the IEP has already treated nine Israeli patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Additionally, eighteen specialists from hospitals throughout Israel are scheduled to visit CCHMC to learn from Cincinnati experts in areas such as liver disease and transplant, pathology, anesthesiology, cardiology, colorectal, radiology and nursing.

"Establishing a program that identifies opportunities for economic growth not only in the Cincinnati area but in Israel is extraordinary," said Bret Caller, President of the Jewish Federation. "These types of innovative entrepreneurial programs will set us all up to benefit from the innovation coming out of Israel."
