Jeff Hinkin Band Returns After A Short Hiatus
Online, February 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The Jeff Hinkin Band is a South Bay mainstay, with hundreds of local performances between San Francisco and Monterey in the last 3 years. The band's Brit-pop songwriting and melodious use of Rickenbacker guitars has made them a favorite among the local pub scene.
"I'm an American writing Brit-Pop - actually using melodies and harmonies to build songs." says Hinkin, "that's pretty unusual, as many local bands are still stumbling through the tired punk aesthetic." After more than 10 years of crafting harmonies and building an impressive song list, Hinkin's songwriting has impressed many locals and built him a strong following among the South Bay community.
"I grew up here," says Hinkin "although we play a wide variety of music, you could say that the core of our music is inspired by the people and places of this area. Melody first - and then guitars, that is our motto." The band's relentless focus on songwriting shines through on the band's many original songs. Thoughtfully layered elements of the composition are represented by skillful performances, bringing a perfect translation of the music to the ears of their local fans.
The Jeff Hinkin Band brings their area expertise to the newly remodeled Cupertino Britannia Arms on March 5th. "We're planning a roaring return to local performance, starting with this breakthrough show at the 'Brit'." Says Hinkin. The band has played the Shoreline Amphitheater, opening for Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. Writing and recording are under way at full throttle with a new album slated for release early next year. The group is currently working with A&R Select, in Hollywood, CA.
