Jeff Howe Joins The Industry Website Crowdsourcing.org

Jeff Howe, author of Crowdsourcing: Why the Power of the Crowd is Driving the Future of Business and former contributing editor of Wired magazine joins Crowdsourcing.org's editorial team.

After coining the term "crowdsourcing," the name Jeff Howe became synonymous with that term. With Jeff joining the Crowdsourcing.org editorial team, the industry website continues to build its position as the authoritative portal for the crowdsourcing and crowdfunding industry. As the "go-to" resource for "Everything and Anything Crowdsourcing," Jeff's addition to the Crowdsourcing.org team will allow us to even better cover the emerging use of crowdsourcing as a business practice.

Jeff Howe will join Crowdsourcing.org's editorial team on July 5, 2011 as a regular contributor to the editorial roster. Besides writing posts on the site he will engage members of the online community through Twitter and in livechats hosted on the site. Crowdsourcing.org members are able to upload news, articles, sites and videos on the subject of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding, in addition to rating content, adding reviews, asking questions and leaving comments.

"We are delighted that Jeff is joining our team. It's a testament to our vision to establish a trusted and relied upon source of information and resources for the crowdsourcing industry. Jeff will help us reach professionals already employing crowdsourcing methods, or just those interested in learning more about crowdsourcing and crowdfunding," said Carl Esposti, Founder and CEO of Crowdsourcing LLC.

Crowdsourcing.org is the leading industry resource offering the largest online repository of news, articles, videos, and site information on the topic of crowdsourcing and crowdfunding. Crowdsourcing.org's mission is to serve as an invaluable source of information to analysts, researchers, journalists, investors, business owners, crowdsourcing experts and participants in crowdsourcing and crowdfunding platforms.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for me to report and write about a phenomenon that is, if anything, even more fascinating now than when I wrote my original Wired article on the subject five years ago," said Jeff Howe, who will be joining the journalism faculty of Northeastern University in the fall.

Crowdsourcing.org continues to develop resources for the industry with the launch last month of the Crowdsourcing Industry Landscape, which outlines the different applications of crowdsourcing and profiles many of the leading sites in each category that can be located in Crowdsourcing.org's Directory of Sites, which includes over 1,000 crowdsourcing and crowdfunding sites. The Crowdsourcing Industry Landscape is available for download on the site in seven different languages - English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Indonesian and Portuguese - and will soon be available in Dutch, Ukrainian and Russian.

The crowdsourcing model has been on a steady rise over the last 10 years, propelled by web applications that are driving greater levels of user interactivity. Crowdsourcing supports more open platforms for innovation, collaboration, engagement, production, the sharing of knowledge, the provision of labor-on-demand solutions, and platforms for problem solving. Crowdsourcing has also led to an explosion of crowdfunding platforms for non-profit and commercial initiatives and ventures.
