Annapolis resident Christianna Harding is embarking on the inaugural Jet Stream Girl jaunt around the globe beginning September 1, 2010. Her journey will span three months and will take her from Denver to Dubai; from Lubbock to London, relying on the goodwill of others to transport her to destinations where she will get her hands dirty to help and to spotlight the good deeds of others around the world.

An open cocktail fundraising reception will be held in honor of the Jet Stream Girl Departure on Thursday, August 19 at Karavan Treasures from Turkey in Annapolis, Maryland beginning at 6:00 p.m. Proprietor Max Onder said, "I met Christianna and immediately got behind the Jet Stream Girl concept. She is a woman who is clear in her desire to bring a world view to volunteerism and help bring a new generation into the philanthropic spirit, with the ultimate goal of helping young people who otherwise may not have someone to give them a break."

The event will offer guests the opportunity to learn more about the Jet Stream Girl program with hopes to bring in both cash and in-kind sponsorships to propel Ms. Harding on her journey. "Ideally, I would love to have my September itinerary finalized before I depart, but I would welcome the opportunity, if someone were to walk in the door and tell me they have a corporate charter or private jet headed somewhere I never considered. That is the beauty of the journey; I want to go and find opportunities for helping and giving a hand up in remote locales, that I may never have imagined, and give exposure to causes that may otherwise be overlooked.

Ms. Harding comes from a long history of giving back. She has worked with missions throughout Europe and Russia, volunteered for the Salvation Army and worked with soup kitchens and youth programs in many cities across the country. Harding has spent the past two years mentoring a 14-year old teen girl through the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program, and will be using her video and weblog travel diary (www.jetstreamgirl.com) to raise awareness and donations for the organization. "I can't emphasize how much I believe in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and how I want to spread its message anywhere I can," said Ms. Harding. "If I can find a small grassroots effort helping youth in Europe, Africa, Asia or the Americas, I want to provide exposure and insight through my video blog, the media and help with my own hands in any way I can, just as we have done through the work of BBBS."
