Jewish Music Band SoulAviv Gains Recognition In The United States And Abroad

For centuries, Jewish prayer music has helped people connect better to their spirituality. And Jewish music is as varied as the people who enjoy it-no longer just the classically influenced choir music many people grew up with.

Jewish music opens doors and opens hearts. A great example is the music of SoulAviv. Gaining more and more popularity in North America, SoulAviv is a four person vocal group hailing from Santa Barbara, California. Formed in 2007, this group is composed of Liat Wasserman, Jamie Green, Roxanne Morganstern and Rob Raede. The group has performed at synagogues, JCC's, conferences, college campuses, and many a Jewish music festival in the three short years since they started.

Singing in English and Hebrew, the group's music is infused with the sounds of folk, Motown, gospel, Memphis soul, and the great harmony groups of the 60's and 70's.

"Fabulous performers whose blend of English, Hebrew, folk, gospel, Motown, and of course, soul, deliver a first-class, uplifting performance. Start figuring out a way to bring them to YOUR community," says Cantor Nancy Kassell of Temple Beth Tikvah in Roswell, Georgia about Soul Aviv.

The music of Soul Aviv has reached international audiences as well. The group was recently selected by audition as one of only 24 ensembles from around the world, and one of only three from the US, to compete in the 2010 International Jewish music competition in Amsterdam. In the competition, Soul Aviv made it all the way to the semi finals, making its mark as officially one of the top 12 Jewish music groups in the world, as well as the highest placed Jewish music group in the United States.
