NASHVILLE, TN, January 19, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Van Heusen was the iconic composer of such hits as Swinging on a Star, All the Way, Moonlight Becomes You, Love and Marriage, High Hopes, Come Fly With Me, Darn That Dream, Ain't That A Kick in the Head, My Kind of Town (Chicago is), and Imagination. Van Heusen's music is being played every day in television shows, movies, commercials worldwide. Comtemporary artists, like Michael Bublé, Lady Gaga, and Celine Dion continue to sing his songs.
Van Heusen was an original member of the famed Rat Pack. While his legacy is inextricably linked with that of his best friend Frank Sinatra, Van Heusen was much more. Starting his career while in high school, Van Heusen worked at a local Syracuse radio station where he honed his craft before heading to New York. Van Heusen started at the bottom rung of the music business. He was a gopher, song plugger, studio musician, anything to achieve his goal of a published songwriter. He moved to Hollywood in the 1930s where he teamed up with Johnny Burke and created songs for the legendary Road to movies starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. During WW II he used his self taught piloting skills to test planes off the production line at Lockheed. He was a brilliant musician, war hero, and good and generous man.
