Jordanians In Qatar Celebrated Victory Of Prince Ali For Coveted Post Of Vice-President of FIFA
Jordanian Community of Qatar and Dr. Naseer Homoud- IIMSAM Goodwill Ambassador and Director of Middle East Office extended warm congratulation to HRH Prince Ali on his new profile of Vice President of FIFA.
Online, January 8, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Jordanian community in Qatar gathered in the house Dr. Naseer Shahir Homoud on last Thursday evening to celebrate the victory of His Royal Highness Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein as Vice President of the FIFA. Dr. Homoud who is also chairman of the support committee extended invitations to Jordanian community to gather at his house to celebrate the victory of Prince Ali immediately after the results of election was announced. Several Jordanians including members of support committee joined the celebrations to reflect the joy and pleasure of Jordanian on this occasion. It was also further resolved in the celebrations that Jordanians under flag of Support Committee would leave no stones unturned for mobilizing massive support for the national team in AFC Asian Cup. Several fans that arrived at Doha airport coming from Amman on Thursday evening joined celebrations which lasted until the early morning hours. Dr. Homoud while addressing the gathering said "the victory of Prince Ali is big boost for Arab and international world, as carrying his ideology for change, modernization and development and upgrading the role of football in Arab and Asian countries is need of the hour to keep pace with international developments." He further went on to say the victory of His Royal Highness Prince Ali on this important position at the international level will contribute to the development of sports in Jordan and Asia as well, as it carries his visions and aspirations that will reinforce the status of continental football in the international arena."
Dr. Naseer Homoud, IIMSAM Goodwill Ambassador and Director of its Middle East Office has extended his congratulations for HRH Prince Ali who won the election of Vice-President of The International Federation of Association Football commonly known by the acronym FIFA which is the international governing body of association football, futsal and beach football. Prince Ali will replace Chung Mong-Joon on the FIFA Executive Committee, ending the South Korean's 16-year stay on the 24- member decision making panel. He won the vote 25-20 to claim one of FIFA's eight vice presidencies at the Asian Football Confederation's Congress in Doha, Qatar. Prince Ali has long been involved in football in his home country, having presided over the domestic soccer federation and was also involved in the West Asian Football Federation. He won in a vote held by the Asian Football Confederation's 45 eligible members, and at an age of 35 becomes the youngest member of the FIFA executive committee.
Dr. Homoud in his telegram message sent for Prince Ali on this occasion congratulated him on this new profiles and wishes all best for him in his future endeavors. Dr. Homoud said "Prince Ali has an exceptional academic, sports and business background and, with his immense understanding of sports and experience thereof he is ideally placed to champion the cause of sports and act as a role model for Jordanian youth players aspiring to be world class". Dr. Homoud further said that election of Price Ali to this coveted post would help elevating the importance of Asian football within FIFA and provide a key liaison between the governing body and Qatar as it prepares for the 2022 World Cup. He urged that Prince Ali is a young person and has a lot of ideas and will do the best for Asia.
Dr. Homoud who is also Honorary President of one of the legendary, famous and oldest sports club of Jordan Al- Hussein Club extended his congratulation to Prince Ali on this historic occasion. He said that the victory of His Highness to this important position at the international level will contribute to developing the sport of Jordan and Asian, as carrying his visions and aspirations that will strengthen the position of region in international forums. He described the feelings of the Jordanian community of Qatar over this election as "the manifestation of pride mingled with tears of joy". He stressed that the election of His Royal Highness Prince Ali is a lamp that illuminates the process of sports development in the Kingdom, as His Highness is keen to move forward in promoting this game which is most popular in Jordan as well as other regional countries.
