Kaleidoscope Painters Joins Mean Green List To Help Arizona Stay Painted On Top of Things

Online, October 11, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Scottsdale, AZ -Many Arizonans still remember November 4, 2001 like it was yesterday. Arizona found itself on top of the world as the ball came off the bat of Luis Gonzalez for a walk-off hit that ended Game 7; as a result of the hit, the Arizona Diamondbacks became the 2001 World Series champions. Just a few years later in 2005, Arizona was back on top of things but this time in a different way as the US Bureau of Economic Analysis released its annual report ranking Arizona the top state for economic growth with a growth rate of 8.7 percent.
Unfortunately, the Financial Crisis of 2007 - 2009 really set Arizona back, and this setback was especially felt in the pockets of homeowners. During this period, many homeowners either postponed home improvement projects or tried to do these projects on their own, without the help of a qualified contractor. "Arizonans like to stay on top of things. It's the Grand Canyon mentality," says Bill K. of Scottsdale.
"We just didn't feel like we were on top of things financially, so we tried to save money by doing some of our home repair and painting ourselves. This turned out to be a bad idea. We ended up having to replace the rug in our daughter's room after a frustrating Saturday afternoon of painting," says John and Shirley W. of Phoenix.
During tough economic times, the conventional wisdom for homeowners as it relates to home improvement projects is to do-it-yourself. This may be true with some projects but there are certain projects that simply require an expert's touch. Painting is one such project; in fact, painting is an art, literally.
Many homeowners fail to add up all the increased costs in time and money of taking on a paint project without assistance from a contractor. According to a report by CostHelper, a consumer report service, an exterior painting of a 3000 square-foot home under a do-it-yourself plan would require: over $600 for paint (over 15 gallons of paint at $40 a gallon of regular paint, not including premium paint which can cost $50-100 a gallon); $100 a day rental of pressure washer; $75 a day rental of extra long ladder; $100 a day rental of power sprayer; plus masking tape, drop cloths, and a variety of other safeguard supplies. When the math is said and done, it adds up to over $875 just to get started on the first day of painting.
On the other hand, hiring an expert contractor will allow the homeowner to truly get on top of things by taking advantage of the supplies that the contractor already owns and the discount prices that the contractor already enjoys with bulk purchasing. In addition, the contractor can set a realistic timeline for the project which gives the homeowner the luxury of planning family activities and events around the project.
"Anyone can slap on a coat of paint, but an expert will properly prepare the surface, figure out the exact paint to use for a given surface, and manage the project quickly with minimum disruption," says James Bland of Kaleidoscope Painters.
