Kazan Networks to Demo NVMe Over Fabrics EBOF

System-level Solution to Enable Next-Generation Flash Connectivity Within Datacenters

Kazan Networks Corporation will be demonstrating the world’s first NVMe over Fabrics (NVMf)-connected Ethernet-attached Bunch of Flash (EBOF) at the Intel Developer Forum this week.  Based on their highly accelerated implementation of this new standard, the solution being shown proves out the feasibility of using NVMf to connect to shelves of SSDs across an extremely low-latency, Ethernet-based network.

“Last week we showed the world the first NVMf-connected SSD and brought home a Best of Show award,” said Joe Steinmetz, CEO of Kazan Networks.  “Today we’re introducing what we believe is the world’s first NVMf-connected EBOF.”

Kazan Networks first demonstrated their NVMf architecture at least year’s IDF.  Since then the solution has expanded to support multiple 25Gb links to the Ethernet fabric, as well as support for PCIe switches between their FPGAs and the SSDs.  These features, along with simultaneous support for both iWARP and RoCE protocols, makes this an ideal solution for integration by system-level providers worldwide.

Kazan Networks’ FPGA-based solution has been developed with a prototype enclosure from StackVelocity, a division of Jabil Circuits, Inc.

“We were excited when Kazan approached us to help bring their proof of concept to fruition in a cost effective and time sensitive manner”, said Kurt Womach, General Manager, StackVelocity.  “Showing up with a working solution just a month after the standard was announced is a testament to the agility and expertise quality of both teams.”

Kazan Networks plans to make this solution available to interested customers via a reference design that can be leveraged into virtually any mechanical form factor.  Interested customers can view the fully functional solution at Kazan Network’s booth # 883 in the NVMe Community.
