KBE Building Corp. Cleans Shelves, Loads Trucks for a Good Cause
Firm helping to build homes for needy MD families
COLUMBIA, Md., October 15, 2015 (Newswire.com) - For KBE Building Corp. (KBE) employees, construction is their livelihood—but they’ve made building homes for local families a labor of love.
As part of their ongoing support for Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, KBE employees spent Oct. 14 volunteering at the Columbia, MD Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which sells donated home repair goods at discounted prices. All proceeds go toward building homes for needy Marylanders.
This is the perfect volunteer activity for us, and Habitat is the perfect cause. What could be more meaningful than using our construction skills to help build homes for those who need them?

KBE volunteers performed a variety of helpful tasks, including loading and unloading trucks, cleaning and stocking shelves, and selling various items.
In 2014, volunteers from KBE’s Maryland office also helped rebuild houses along a four-block stretch of Baltimore’s McCabe Avenue, where 37 of 123 homes are vacant. Volunteers from KBE’s CT office have also worked in various ReStores to help build homes for needy residents in their state.

All Because of 50 Ways
KBE’s day-long volunteer service at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore was possible because of the firm’s corporate philanthropic program, 50 Ways to Make a Difference.
Established in 2009 to celebrate the firm’s new ownership, name change, and 50 years in business, 50 Ways has helped KBE associates donate more than $1.7 million and 9,000 volunteer hours over the last six years to charitable causes benefiting children, seniors, and military veterans in Connecticut and Maryland.
Volunteering at the ReStore is just one of many ways KBE is meeting its ambitious goal of 2,500 volunteer hours and thousands of dollars in donations to serve its local communities in 2015. Most recently, the firm supported KBE Chief Estimator Micah Boyce in a Washington, D.C. biathlon; he raised more than $1,000 to support disabled veterans through Team River Runner.
