KCAL Radio Host Takes New Path
Online, October 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Lloyd Brock, former talk show host of "Love Beat" aired on KCAL FM in Southern California and Michael Young, a former Chicagoland television producer now living in Waycross, GA have joined together to launch a website for up-and-coming musicians.
Songfestexpress.com, the fresh new website has the potential to revolutionize the industry because the concept is proven, but this specific market has gone untapped. According to Brock, it's like an online songwriters' American Idol: the music-buying public will vote for its favorite songs.
Young stated "Musicians can submit their work to Songfestexpress by category including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Country as well as others. The public will have 30 days to vote on their favorite tracks. At the end of the voting period, artists with the highest number of votes may not only get a recording contract, a distribution and promotion deal is a part of the package." Young went on to state, "With our promoter, Mr. Jim Fakas, also formerly with KCAL radio, we've got a great team here at Songfestexpress. It's all about the music. We want to bring these artists into the mainstream market playing fields."
Additionally, all submissions will be available for sale on Songfestexpress.com, and musicians will receive generous royalties.
The drive behind the program is to make breaking into the music industry less daunting. The current challenge intimidates many getting started. Part of the problem is that thousands of artists are looking for a record deal, and major label executives don't have time to listen to every demo they receive. Often what matters is who knows whom, which prohibits some great artists from gaining the exposure they need for successful careers in the industry.
This system streamlines the process by blending all of the phases, from audition to marketing.
According to Brock, Songfestexpress.com bypasses the giant record companies and allows the songwriter to go directly to his target market -- the music buyers. He says the current system of record company executives deciding what's good and what isn't is totally unfair to most musicians. This system takes away corporate control of radio airplay.
Songfestexpress.com will soon offer free Web pages available for bands, real-time apps for use on iPhone, Android and several other data phone platforms. Fans will have the opportunity to get notifications when an artist posts new tunes, which can be shared to MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
Have you written the next big hit, and have nowhere to send it? Check out http://www.songfestexpress.com and they will provide the audience that could help move your musical career to the next level.
