Keep NC Beautiful Names Winners Of Litter Prevention Awards
NC - Keep NC Beautiful (www.keepncbeautiful.org) has announced the winners of the 12th annual Litter Prevention Awards program. Cash awards of $500 were issued to groups that developed programs in waste reduction and reuse and litter prevention.

Award winners are as follows:
- Penn-Griffin School for the Arts, High Point - to offer litter pick up for community service credit hours
- Phi Theta Kappa-Guilford Technical Community College, Jamestown- to organize a service program, "Keeping The Carolinas Green Through eCycling"
- US Green Building Council at NC State University, Raleigh - to host the "The Great Sort" to gather two months of scrap collection from the College of Design and then sort the waste into reusable and recyclable material.
- Better Badin Inc, Badin - to pick up litter on close to 20 miles of Badin on a routine basis.
- Nash Central High School Environmental Club, Rocky Mount - to aid your club's participation in Adopt-A-Highway and its initiative to eliminate the use of Styrofoam lunch trays.
- Triangle Reuse Alliance, Durham - to support organization's work to increase reuse and divert materials from the landfill and hold Reuse Rodeos.
- The Green Chair Project, Raleigh - to promote nonprofit dedicated to "reusing furnishings, renewing lives" and diverting 20,000 pounds of waste from landfills in 2010
