Women’s Entrepreneurship Day ignites women leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs to initiate startups, drive economic expansion and advance communities worldwide. The flagship United Nations event is slated in 144 countries and is expected to draw the participation of four billion women.

Women in the U.S. are now starting businesses at twice the rate of men. According to Entrepreneur Magazine (June 2018), in 2004, there were 225,000 self-described angel investors, of which only five percent were women. In 2016*, data indicated that there are 300,000 angel investors in the United States and 27 percent, or 78,000, of those are women. This segment of angel investors is often looking for women-led companies to provide a boost of capital and mentorship. Data from the Center for Venture Research at the University of New Hampshire corroborates this correlation.

Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic is part of Keiretsu Forum, the world’s largest and most active investment community of early-stage angel investors. Founded in California in 2000, Keiretsu Forum now includes 53 chapters on three continents. For more information about Keiretsu Forum Mid-Atlantic or the 2018 Angel Capital Expo visit www.keiretsuforum-midatlantic.com.
