Kentico CMS 5.5 Supports Visual Studio 2010 and Mobile Websites

Nashua, New Hampshire, USA, May 25, 2010 - Kentico Software (http://www.kentico.com), the Web content management system vendor, announced the release of Kentico CMS for ASP.NET version 5.5. The new version provides full support of Visual Studio 201

The main change in Kentico CMS 5.5 is added support for Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0 which allows developers to leverage the power of the latest version of Microsoft .NET platform. Kentico CMS 5.5 also enables companies to create websites optimized for mobile devices while reusing their existing content. The new version comes with built-in Facebook Connect and OpenID authentication that extend the existing integration with Active Directory and Windows Live ID.

"The goal of the new version is to allow developers to use Kentico CMS with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4.0 immediately after its release, so that they can leverage all enhancements in the latest version of Microsoft .NET platform." says Martin Hejtmanek, CTO at Kentico Software.

"There are more than 1.7 billion Internet users worldwide, while the number of mobile users already reached 4.6 billion and nearly every new mobile phone has an internet connection. Having your website ready for mobile device is getting to be a must." says Michal Neuwirth, Product Manager at Kentico Software.

Most of the website services require users to register, which makes it necessary to spend time filling numerous forms and remember different credentials. The newly added Facebook Connect and OpenID authentication provides users with an option how they can quickly log into a website using their existing account.

"The timing of Visual Studio 2010 release led us to the release of a minor version of Kentico CMS in which we also implemented several improvements that were demanded by our customers" says Michal Neuwirth, Product Manager at Kentico Software. "Namely Facebook Connect and OpenID authentication were the two requirements that our customers required most often at http://kentico.uservoice.com where we let our clients decide on the future versions. The release of this minor version of Kentico CMS allows us to quickly answer to our customers' needs" he adds.

Kentico CMS 5.5 comes with another two major out-of-the-box integrations. Integration with Microsoft Sharepoint Server allows users to manage content on their SharePoint site and publish it on their Kentico CMS website. The MetaWeblogAPI integration enables users to use editors like Windows Live Writer of MS Word to write and publish their blog posts.

Other improvements include enhanced reporting, improved performance, support of Bing and Yahoo! maps, easy creation of RSS feeds and numerous improvements of the administration interface.
