Key West 20th Annual Master Chef Classic Is Highlight of Season

The Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens, M.A.R.C., benefited once again from the proceeds of the 20th Annual Master Chef Classic hosted by the Westin Key West Resort and Marina Pier this last weekend.

With proceeds benefiting The MARC House, the 20th Annual Master Chef Classic, a competition of top local Chefs representing sixteen of the finest Key West restaurants, was held this past weekend. An event associated with the Key West Food and Wine Festival, the Classic is a favorite event of many wine and cuisine enthusiasts who travel to the tiny island of Key West simply to be a participant in the charitable event.

"I've been coming for three years now," Said Tampa resident, Tanya W. "It's well worth the drive to come down here and taste some of the best food I've ever tasted and make a difference in the life of a person who can't help themselves."

The MARC House, an extension of The Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens, is committed to improving the living quality of adult residents of Monroe County who are disabled both mentally and or physically. The services offered by the Association have been assisting those citizens for nearly forty years.

Founded in 1966, the mission of the MARC House has been to provide their clients with compassionate, dignified and professional care in a friendly environment for as long as the client is in need. Because of the conviction and compassion shown by the members and contributors of the Association, The MARC House has become one of the most reputable and respected charities in Monroe County, Florida.

Teaching simple skills, vocational, social and personal, the MARC House provides the services and support to their clients intended to enhance their quality of life, increase understanding of everyday routine and teach social interaction. In addition, MARC provides support and supervision of medical and therapeutic appointments and interaction.

"Our goal is to teach the skills a person needs to be somewhat independent," voiced one member and contributor. "It's hard enough to get by in the world today. Those who hardly have a chance, well, we try to give them the chance."
