Kickoff Events for Cancer Awareness Walk Announced

Online, June 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Support Connection, Inc., an independent non-profit organization that provides free, confidential support services to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer, announces "KICK-OFF SATURDAY: FROM BREAKFAST TO BASEBALL" which will launch registration for their Annual Support-A-Walk for breast and ovarian cancer.

There are 2 special Kickoff Events planned for Saturday, July 16th. Everyone is welcome at one or both events:

THE SUPPORT-A-WALK KICKOFF BREAKFAST will be from 9 am - 11 am at the North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Center, 3550 Lexington Avenue, Mohegan Lake, NY. This is a free event for anyone interested in learning more about Support Connection's 17th Annual Support-A-Walk for breast and ovarian cancer. Guests will enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast while learning everything you need to know about the Walk. Brochures, flyers and other materials will be distributed. There will be presentations from past participants on how to form teams and gather donations. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT NIGHT, a night of minor league baseball with the Hudson Valley Renegades, will begin at 7:05 pm (gates open 5:30) at Dutchess Stadium, 1500 Route 9D, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 (Only 1 mile from I-84.) "Show Your Support Night" is a night of family fun and FUNdraising for a great cause! Enjoy the game between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Connecticut Tigers, plus FIREWORKS after the game! Support Connection staff and volunteers will be on hand with Walk materials. For only $14, pre-purchase a ticket package that includes a grandstand reserved ticket and a free Renegades hat. KICK-OFF SATURDAY is Support Connection's opportunity to launch plans and registration for their 17th Annual Support-A-Walk for breast and ovarian cancer awareness. The Support-A-Walk, scheduled for Sunday, October 2, 2011 at FDR Park in Yorktown Heights, is a 3-mile walkathon held each year to increase awareness about breast and ovarian cancer. Proceeds from Support-A-Walk directly fund Support Connection's free, confidential breast and ovarian cancer support services. Each year, thousands of people from across the Hudson Valley come together for this uplifting community event. Participants walk in celebration of or in tribute to those affected by these diseases.
