Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Team Creates a Twitter Star

Local cancer survivor makes a guest appearance on national radio and becomes the team's lone Twitter followee for a week

DALLAS, Apr. 7, 2010 - In an unprecedented move, the team from the top Arbitron-rated, nationally syndicated radio show, Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, chose Don Armstrong (@FinishYourRace) as its lone Twitter followee for one week, Apr. 7-13, 2010.

This is in response to Conan O'Brien following one Fowlerville woman, who now has more than 28,000 followers. The Kidd Kraddick team chose Fort Worth resident and cancer survivor, Don Armstrong who is celebrating his fifth year in remission from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Don recently launched the Finish Your Race campaign where he will travel the world to run 10 marathons and raise $500,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

On his show Wednesday morning, Kraddick said he received an onslaught of e-mails explaining why he should follow certain individuals. "We've been looking long and hard for something with meaning," said Kraddick. They found meaning through the Finish Your Race cause and Don Armstrong's story.

Armstrong was also a guest on the show Wednesday morning, discussing the Finish Your Race campaign and its mission to raise public awareness of and help find a cure for blood cancers.

"I am honored by the support of the Kidd Kraddick team for my Finish Your Race cause," said Armstrong. "This greatly helps my cause by raising awareness for blood cancers and money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am blessed by the outpouring of kind people who want to help me finish my race."

The combined members on the show have approximately 100,000 Twitter followers - Kraddick with the most at nearly 46,000. Before the interview, approximately 150 people were following Armstrong. In three hours after the on air interview, Armstrong reached more than 900. The Kraddick team has set a goal for @FinishYourRace to reach 25,000 followers in one week.
