Online, August 15, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Kim Thomas, owner of Christopher Amira Salon & Spa, will hold a fund raiser for the cosmetology industry entitled "Dining for Change" on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at the TAVO Martini Loft & Restaurant at 815 Rockwell Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Donations are $25 per person, payable at the door, preferably by checks made out to "Dining for Change."
"Dining for Change" is a fundraising program established by the National Cosmetology Association to benefit three extremely worthy charities: "Cut it Out (Salons Against Domestic Violence)," "Look Good . . . Feel Better," and the "National Cosmetology Association's Disaster Relief Fund." Ms. Rowena Yeager, a member of its Salon & Spa Leadership Council, is part of the formal program for the evening which begins at 7 p.m. Industry networking precedes and follows the formal program.
Ms. Thomas is currently the Chairwoman of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology. In 2008, Ms. Thomas was appointed to the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology. Prior to her recent election as Chairman, she served on the 9-member board for two years, helping to regulate licensed beauty professionals, salons and cosmetology schools operating in the state of Ohio and helping to promulgate rules governing the industry.
She will be joined on this special evening by Mr. James "Jim" Trakas, Executive Director of the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology. In addition, cosmetology board members and professionals from around the state have been invited to attend the event. Ms. Thomas looks to make charitable efforts one of the hallmarks of her tenure as Chairwoman.
Ms. Danita Harris, NewsChannel 5 anchorwoman, who is nationally-recognized for her own community service, is also a Special Guest for the evening. Her involvement will certainly raise the community's awareness of this event and highlight the industry's concern for those in need. Tickets can be purchased by calling 216/798-8948.
