Kirby Wright Releases Futuristic Novel: PRELUDE TO THE APOCALYPSE
Online, March 4, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Kirby Wright is releasing his new futuristic novel in episodes on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. Here's a quick summary of Part 1:
Evo and Tony are SoCal dwellers who, as narrator Tony describes, are somewhat comfortably numb in a Leave It To Beaver-type neighborhood in Vista, California. What I liked about this is the slow deconstruction of their Middle Class existence, a series of ups and downs as the concept of Survival of the Fittest sinks in. The police are gone. No Firemen either. Marshall Law has been imposed. The kids who used to trick-or-treat now go door to door looting. Starving neighbors are fishing and trapping rabbits to eat. Some become fruit thieves, such as Tony's neighbor. Water catchment and generators become popular when the utilities shut down. Tony and Evo are torn over what to do and where to flee. They know staying in the burbs is dangerous, especially after the rumors that gangs are coming down from Riverside to take control.
