Online, November 14, 2011 (Newswire.com) - KISTERS has been working closely with the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science (CUAHSI) for the last five years. During this time, KISTERS has been a strategic partner with CUAHSI in the development of water data standards like WaterOneFlow and Water Markup Language (WaterML). The CUAHSI WaterML specification and WaterOneFlow services are now in use by numerous national and state agencies and are being brought to Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC)-compliant status.
Klaus Kisters, CEO of KISTERS AG says, "CUAHSI has been a recognized leader in the development of open standards for water data exchange in our industry. KISTERS has enjoyed a long and successful working relationship with CUAHSI over the last 5 years and we thought it was perfect timing to make our membership official as they move to the next phase in the growth of their organization."
"It is hard to quantify just how much support KISTERS has given CUAHSI over the years, but I can say that they have brought an immense amount of data management insight and technical expertise to the CUAHSI team over the years", says Rick Hooper, Executive Director of CUAHSI. Hooper also mentions, "The fact that KISTERS has developed a commercial web interoperability solution (KiWIS) that supports these new open data standards really helps to demonstrate the importance of our efforts to the global water science community."
"The KISTERS firm has been a strong supporter of the internationalization of WaterML as a public, open source standard for water information exchange and we welcome their participation in the CUAHSI community", says Dr. David Maidment, Leader of the CUAHSI Hydrologic Information System Project and Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas in Austin.
