Kiwi home owners are responding with enthusiasm to the call for private accommodation for international rugby supporters travelling to New Zealand for Rugby World Cup 2011, says Sue Robinson, Managing Director of NZ property management company 80 Minute Game Ltd.
The first release of ticket packages to the public on 27th April met with an unprecedented response, with 90,000 tickets selling in the first 24 hours, and now the search for somewhere to stay is on. With matches located all around the country visitors to the tournament have an opportunity to follow their teams around New Zealand's beautiful landscape or to stay in one place for the duration and travel to games.
Sue Robinson, Managing Director of 80 Minute Game Ltd said that international fans are enquiring daily about where to stay, what to do and what to avoid when looking for private homes to rent.
"We are pleased with the response so far. We've found that guests are very happy with the level of service we offer, and with the fact that they can pay their deposit now and then pay the accommodation off over a period of time - which means they can pick when to pay according to the exchange rate."
The company has been listing houses since April 2009 but said new listings are still coming in thick and fast. "We've got over 200 listings already. A lot of them are in Auckland but home owners in the provinces are now coming on board as they realise that fans are happy to stay out of town and travel to matches."
Sue said she has families booking rural homes as a base with the intention of enjoying the kiwi lifestyle in among the wineries or near the beach, and then flying or driving to the main centres for games. "For example we've got a house in rural Nelson on 10 acres, with pool, spa, tennis court on the doorstep of some iconic New Zealand wineries, and an easy drive to the beach and to Nelson Airport."
Apartments and homes in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch are available, with properties to suit large groups as well as couples and families. The company offers a full property management service so guests are met on arrival at the property, and have someone on call 24/7 to deal with any problems. VIP services are also available.
Homes are listed on the website but booking is taken care of individually to ensure guests get what they want.
"We don't book online - we want to talk to people first and make sure they are getting what they want. We've got a good enough selection of homes that we can usually find something suitable within people's budget" said Sue.
