Online, October 17, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Kleinfelder, a global architecture, engineering and science consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Shawn Powers has been selected as the company's new vice president of human resources (HR) following a national candidate search. Powers, who reports directly to president and CEO, Bill Siegel, is located in the firm's San Diego, Calif., headquarters. His first day was October 4, 2012.

A former captain in the United States Army, Powers has 16 years of experience leading HR strategies, processes and teams for various organizations. Most recently, he served as senior director of HR for CCI, a leading manufacturer of control valves for the nuclear, power generation, and oil and gas markets.
Powers, who received both his Bachelor of Science in biomedical science and Master of Arts in international affairs from Texas A&M University, also holds a Global Professional of Human Resources (GPHR) certification. He is a member of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). In the military, he also received an Air Medal (Valor), Bronze Star Medal, and Meritorious Service Medal.
