Online, May 9, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Knauf Insulation will be showcasing its high performance insulation solutions for solid wall applications at this year’s Greenbuild Expo, alongside CCF (part of the Travis Perkins group), one of the UK’s leading distributors of interior building products to the construction industry. Both the ThermoShell Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) system and ThermoShell External Wall Insulation (EWI) system will be on display on stand C10, with live demonstrations on the IWI system throughout the show.
The impending Green Deal and new Energy Company Obligation (ECO) has thrust solid wall insulation firmly into the spotlight, as it is seen as one of the key contributors to improving the UK’s existing housing stock and helping to reduce carbon emissions.
As viable options to effectively increasing the thermal performance of a solid wall, the cost effective ThermoShell IWI and EWI systems can raise a property to current Building Regulation thermal standards and beyond - drastically reducing carbon dioxide emissions and significantly lowering energy bills.
The BBA certified ThermoShell IWI system is ideally suited for most solid wall properties where alterations to the exterior façade are not an option, due to planning laws and cost. The simplicity and flexibility of the system means that no scaffolding is required and the solution can be installed on a ‘room by room’ basis or as part of a whole house refurbishment plan. The ThermoShell IWI system has been developed to be the most effective solution to ‘whole house – low energy’ refurbishments and allows a competent tradesman to undergo assessment and training to become an Approved Installer - enabling them to install and finish the system using a traditional plaster skim finish or dry lining techniques.
The ThermoShell EWI system is ideal for large residential properties, flats and office buildings, where avoiding internal disruption is a necessity. The EWI system can be easily installed over a variety of existing substrates including brick, stonework and concrete, which can protect the existing façade from the effects of weathering and can extend the longevity of the building.
Official training providers, PPL Training, who are operating ThermoShell IWI Approved Installer Courses nationally, will also be on hand at the show throughout the live demonstrations - ensuring visitors have both an in-depth understanding into the practical application of IWI systems, and can also learn how to become an Approved ThermoShell IWI Installer.
Steve Smith, residential market manager at Knauf Insulation explains: “Housing accounts for around 27 percent of the UK’s carbon emissions and many of the UK’s existing homes are inefficient when it comes to using heat energy. Increasing the thermal performance of the building fabric is key and Knauf Insulation’s ThermoShell IWI and EWI systems are ideal solutions for upgrading existing solid wall constructions. Our demonstrations will be ideal for people looking to reduce heat loss in existing properties, as well as trades people looking to add a new skill set in order to develop new business opportunities in readiness for Green Deal and the new ECO.
